COVID-19: Foundation donates palliatives to orphans, others in Bauchi

Orphans, vulnerable children and households in Bauchi state have received 3,050 bags of 25 kg rice from a non-governmental organization, Hayin Foundation as part of its contribution to the ongoing war against the coronavirus pandemic.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Hajiya Amina Jauro, made this known on Saturday, while donating the food items to the beneficiaries at Gumau Town in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

Jauro said the palliative measure is aimed at reducing the sufferings of the masses especially during the COVID-19 lockdown

She said: “We have also given out N10,000 each to 350 people across seven local government areas that make up Bauchi South Senatorial District to cushion their suffering at this time of partial lockdown and border closure.

“We have equally given out 150 bags of sugar to women, elderly people and the downtrodden across Bauchi South.”

According to Hajiya Jauro, helping the less privileged is part of her foundation’s passion since she was growing up as a child in a remote village.

She said the time has come for her to execute her childhood project which is helping others.

Other items donated include, 50 gallons of cooking oil, 120 jericans of palm oil of 20 litres each and others.

On Ramadan fasting, she said 200 bags of 50 kgs of rice was also giving to Muslims communities including cash of N5, 000 naira each to 300 people.

One of the beneficiaries, Hassan Usman, said the food items and the clothes donated by the Hayyin Foundation came at the right time when he needed help the most.

Also speaking, a community leader in Bogoro Local Gobernment Area, Alhaji Habib Saleh, said as community leaders they are grateful to the foundation for remembering them when they needed assistance.
