COVID-19: FCTA pays N50,000 to Doctors daily-Minister

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has put to rest the rumours making the rounds that doctors in the frontline of the fight against the spread of Coronavirus pandemic otherwise known as COVID-19 in the nation’s Capital receives a paltry sum of N5,000 as hazard allowance.

Malam Bello made the disclosur yesterday e at the FCT Abuja COVID-19 Media briefing.

He disclosed that Doctors in the FCT are paid N50,000, Nurses, pharmacists and laboratory assistants receive N30,000 while cleaners and drivers receive N20,000.

Bello while commending the efforts of the health professionals in the fight also reiterated the Administration’s commitment to the welfare of everyone at the forefront of the fight to put an end to the pandemic that have crippled many countries of the world.

Speaking further, he expressed optimism that in the coming days, the FCT will record discharge of many patients being managed in the FCT of COVID-19.

However, he warned that the violation of the lockdown order which is aimed at curbing the spread of the virus will leave the FCT Administration no choice than to adopt stricter measures to curb the spread of the virus in city.

While lamenting recording increase in the number of confirmed cases in Abuja, he assured the residents that the Administration has set up adequate measures including expanding and securing more facilities which will serve as Isolation Centres to manage patients in the FCT.
