COVID-19: Coalition renovates isolation centre, donates equipment to Yobe
The private sector-led Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) says it has renovated an isolation centre in Damaturu and donated medical equipment, and consumables to the Yobe state government to fight the pandemic.
The gesture was made through First Bank of Nigeria Limited.
The bank’s Business Manager, Damaturu Branch, Mr. Marcus Dibel, said this at the inauguration of the isolation centre on Tuesday in the state capital.
”As financial institution, we have a corporate social responsibility on our shoulders to assist people within our area of operation and also to support the state government in containing the spread of global health crisis,” he said.
Dibel said the items donated were 100 beds, 100 mattresses, 100 pillows, 100 side lockers, 100 overhead tables, 112-lead ECG electrodes, one point-of-care, blood gas, lab analyser and 5,000 heavy duty aprons.
Also donated are 100kva sound-prove generator, two auto syringe pumps, one autoclave, five baby cots, 10 bed pans, 100 bedside switch alarms, one bedside switch board alarm, 100 bedside lockers, two critical care, electric beds and 500 bio-hazard bags.

He further stated that one bio-safety class ll, type A2 cabinets, three BIPAP respiratory/CPAP machines, one blood warmer, 50 crocs, one centrifuge refrigerator, one defibrillator (AED), 50 drip stands, 100 end tracheal tubes, 5,000 disposable face masks and 3,000 non-disposable masks were among the equipment donated.
Responding, Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, described the gesture as encouraging and a step in the right direction.
”We want to express our gratitude at this gesture. I really appreciate CACOVID, which is a programme that is anchored by Access Bank, First Bank as well as the Dangote Foundation,” he said.
Buni, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammed Gana, said the items came in at the most auspicious time of need.
”This support has demonstrated true partnership and the items that have been supplied have actually positioned the state to fully manage cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,” Buni said.
