Court Stops Akeredolu From Investigating Chief Judge

On Thursday, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja prohibited Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, from investigating the state’s Chief Judge over a viral video filmed by a citizen of the state, Olupelumi Fagboyegun.

Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, the Chief Judge of Ondo State, had filed a lawsuit against the Governor, the Attorney General of Ondo State, and the House of Assembly, seeking to prevent them from proceeding with the planned probe, as well as bar the AGF, NJC, and IGP from acting on any report submitted to them by the Ondo State government pending the outcome of the main suit.

Remember that on February 25, 2021, Justice Ekwo stopped the governor and the defendants from taking any further action in respect to the state chief judge’s supposed probe into the viral video.

The judge issued the order in response to Justice Akeredolu’s ex-parte application.
