Court Reserves Ruling On Yobe PDP Suit

An FCT High Court on Thursday reserved ruling until March 16 in a suit filed by nine Yobe PDP aspirants challenging the outcome of the 2014 primary elections in the state, NAN reports.

The presiding judge, Justice Mamman Kolo, fixed the date after hearing submissions of the counsel.

The plaintiffs, Mr Haruna Waziri, and eight others, had sued PDP and INEC seeking to stop PDP from submitting the names of winners of the 2014 primary elections to INEC.

The aggrieved PDP members had argued that they were denied opportunity to contest the 2014 primaries.

The PDP did not have legal representation in Thursday’s session as its counsel, Mrs Oyinyechi Ezeted, absented herself without notifying the court.

The plaintiffs’ counsel, Mr Christopher Oshomegie, had pressed for the case to go on as it had been adjourned twice at the instance of Ezeted.

He, therefore, urged the court to grant the plaintiffs’ prayers as contained in their originating summons.

Mr Usman Farida, counsel to INEC, did not object to Oshomegie’s argument.

The judge, therefore, fixed March 16 for ruling in the case.
