Court remands petrol station manager over alleged stealing of N3m

An Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court on Friday, remanded Bolarinwa Moshood, 27 and Morufu Olabode, 32, in prison custody for alleged stolen over N3 million.

The Prosecutor, Insp Monday Ojiezele, told the court that the accused committed the offence between Dec 2016 to May 2017 at Rechadee Petrol Filling Station, Arubidi Street, Omiokun Road, Ile-Ife.

Ojiezele said that the accused conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit stealing 20, 993 litres of petrol valued over N3 million, property of one Babatunde Kazeem.

He added that Olabode, the petrol black market seller at Wanikin junction Ife, Ondo road, received 2, 744 litres of petrol, valued over N.3 million, from Moshhod, which known to be stolen property.

According to him, the offence was contrary to section 383 and punishable under sections 390 (8a), 427 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode did not take the plea of the accused.

Ijiyode asked their defence counsel, Mrs Innocental Akhigbe to come with written application for her clients’ bail.

Meanwhile, Ijiyode ordered for the remand of the accused in prison custody till July 5, for mention.
