Couple to die by hanging for murder, armed robbery in Osun
A couple, ‎ Mr. Fatai Jimoh and Lateefat Jimoh have been sentenced to death by hanging by an Osun State High Court sitting at Ile-Ife.
The court, which was presided over by Honourable Justice Adedotun Onibokun sentenced the couple on Wednesday December 14.
They were arraigned on June 2 2014, on three counts charge of murder, conspiracy to murder and armed Robbery.
These, the court said was  contrary to section (1) 316 and punishment under 319 Cap 34 Laws of Osun State and (6b) and punishable under section 1 (1) 2 (a) of the robbery and fire arms (special provision) Act, Cap R11 Law of federation of Nigeria 200.
It was gathered that on August 12, 2009, “the couple conspired together to murder and
robbed Mrs Bukola Taiwo (Deceased) at Ikeketu Village via Garage Olode in Ife South Local Government Area”.
Delivery the judgement, the justice narrated that “Mr. Fatai Jimoh who went into the room of deceased let out to her, where she normally slept whenever she came from Ibadan to buy palm oil.
“He strangulated her while his wife (Lateefat) used a sledge hammer to smashed the forehead of the deceased which led to her death and they took
away untied wallet in the blossom of the deceased which contained the sum of N48,780.”
During the court hearing, the prosecuting counsel from the Osun State, Ministry of Justice, Barrister Moses Faremi (Principal State Counsel) called four witnesses which included a  police inspector, pathologist from University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, the Baale of Ikeketu and the neighbours who saw what happened and alerted others.
