Coscharis graduates technicians from CG-Eko academy

No fewer than ten qualified technicians were graduated from the 2017 set of CG-Eko LLP Training Academy, which held its convocation ceremony recently in Lagos state.
Since admitting the first set of trainees in 2013, the academy has successfully turned out 41 graduates till date. Majority of the graduands have been absorbed into Coscharis Group; some were employed by other organizations, while some have become after-sales facility entrepreneurs.
For instance, the class of 2015 graduated 17 students and 15 were employed by Coscharis group. These students have in their individual ways distinguished themselves in the various departments they have been assigned.
14 students graduated in 2016 and four were employed by the company. They too are becoming indispensable players in the after-sale department where they were assigned.
The class of 2017 has also graduated 10 students; and there are indications that a sizeable number of percentage would equally be absorbed by Coscharis.
Speaking at the Joint Convocation Ceremony of CG-Eko LLP Training Academy Held recently in Lagos, Dr. Maduka said that the establishment of the school is part of the historical development of the Nigerian automotive industry, as the school wheels out the human resources who will drive the industry to the next level.
Maduka said that when Coscharis Motors Plc, one of their subsidiaries in the group was to venture into the business of selling brand new globally respected iconic vehicles, they were guided by the vision, ”to build an institution that is timeless in its relevance”.
“At that point we knew that in order to remain timeless in our relevance to the automotive industry, we needed to do more than selling new vehicles – we needed to also establish an after-sales support base which will help to keep our customers’ vehicles on the road, performing optimally at all times.
Because of the dearth of qualified technicians in the industry at the time, we had to embark on hiring expatriates from other countries to man our after-sales facilities”, Maduka said.
The Coscharis Group boss said that as the demand for their vehicles increased, so was the demand for after-sales services.
Therefore, as a forward- looking organization; and in consonance with their mission statement to plough back to the society, Maduka said Coscharis decided to embark on manpower training and development of youths, to fill in the vacuum created by the dearth of qualified technicians, thereby empowering and creating employment opportunities for them.
For the graduands, this is an exciting day in their lives. A graduand said, “Today, we celebrate our many unique characteristics that we have discovered during our time at the training academy.
We have been tutored on leadership and academic skills which each of us have and will continue to nurture and develop over time. However, the greatest gift we would leave CG-EKO LLP Training Academy with is the gift of our skilled education.
It is a gift that Dr.Cosmas Maduka, our instructors, staff of Coscharis group and our parents have given to us.
It is my humble supplication that we would understand much of what that means every day we draw breath and that we may develop an even greater appreciation for this gift more than we have shown today.”
Speaking at the event, the Training Manager, Mr. Sunday Tanimowo said he can boldly recommend that the graduands have passed through series of professional hands- on theoretical and practical training in the field of automobile engineering ranging from automobile repairs, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, automobile technology, workshop practice, digital electronics, leadership, management, crm and product knowledge.
Having completed the approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations, Tanimowo presented the first batch of 18 graduates who started the journey in August 2013, but only 17 completed the rigorous training;
According to him, the second batch 17 graduands was admitted in August 2014; and only 14 of them were able to complete the race, while there were the third batch of 14 graduands, who started the race with only 10 sailing through.
Tanimowo said,“Graduands, l salute your doggedness, oneness and tenacity of purpose. You persevered and endured the reddish flame of academic fire in order to win. You however conquered and won hence today’s celebration, well done!
I admonish you all to chat your course in the light of professional hands-on and online training received from the training academy.
I am strongly convinced that you shall all occupy rightful positions at various automobile companies both locally and abroad shortly.”
