Corpers Stranded over Lack of Transport Vehicles in Enugu

Despite assurances from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a hitch-free presidential election across the country, reports coming in from Enugu, South East, Nigeria, reveals that the ad hoc members comprising members of NYSC are stranded at the INEC office over non availability of vehicles to take them to their various units in the state.

Making this known is the director of INEC information, Dr (Mrs) Anthonia Ekwo at the INEC who expressed the readiness of INEC.

She said the total number of permanent Voter cards, PVCs, registered in the state was 1,412,518 and the number of PVC collected was 1,26,0496.

She explained the number of Female who collected their PVCs was 655, 725 while men was 604,773.

She said the percentage of distributed PVC in the state was 89 and undistributed PVC was 152,022 which is 11 percent.

As at the 9:00 am most of the polling units are yet to commence accreditation given the slow start.

The INEC ad hoc members are stranded as there is not available vehicles to take them to various polling units in the state.

The situation became worse and the INEC had to make arrangement to carry most of them on trucks.
