Out of joy, Abia Central Senatorial electorates Saturday, passed a vote of confidence on the senator representing the district, Sen. Theodore Ahamefule Orji as he gave over 1000 bags of rice to them as well as large measures of cash for the Christmas.
Presenting the materials at his senatorial headquarters in Umuahia, Sen. Orji said the occasion was an annual ritual intended to cushion the effect of the current hardship on people in the constituency.
Sen. Orji said Christmas is a period for people to give for God to continue to bless them, stating that God has given the position where he has a comparative advantage, stating that he will use it to the glory of God.
In his type of politics, the senator said, the people are number one in everything he does, stating that every Abian, especially in Abia Central “is an asset, useful and important”, stating that of the bags of rice, 100 bags go to each of the six LGAs, regretting also that in his mind, that number was not enough, and attributed it to the current hardship in the country.
He opined that it is prayers from the people and the good works of people that make them succeed, stating “what you do also affect you”, and prayed that all that will touch the rice and eat it will be blessed by God.
The senator also advised his constituents to be patient with the current hardship in the country as the hardship, like evil has expiry date, after which good tidings will come.
Speaking on behalf of the six LGAs of the senatorial district, Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, Osisioma, Umuahia North, Umuahia South, Ikwuano, the Executive Chairman, Isiala Ngwa South, Ifeanyi Isikaku thanked Sen. Orji over his gesture by remembering his constituents this festive season as he has always done, describing this as the first from any senator in the state this Christmas.
“This habit is something different in the state, and I pray God to give you more good years and add to your age”, he prayed and proposed a vote of confidence on the senator and which supported by the Executive Chairman, Umuahia South LGA, Obioma Eze Ogbulafor.
The vote of confidence was sustained by all constituents there with thunderous “I” and no “Nays”.
The six LGA chairmen at the occasion thereafter promised to buy the nomination form for him, come 2019 general elections for a second term.
Earlier in his introductory speech, a former commissioner in the state and now a special aid to the senator, Emeka Longman Nwachukwu commended the senator over his continued sustenance of “stomach infrastructure” over the years.
Meanwhile, Sen. Orji has continued with the sustenance of his scholarship award scheme he installed to assist “unique and intelligent” students out of financial difficulties in the senatorial district.
More students will be added by January, 2018 which the committee in charge of the scheme would have shortlisted more students for that purpose.
