Confusion as Kogi Assembly declares former Speaker’s seat vacant

There was contusion as Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday declared the seat of Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam of Lokoja I constituency vacant.
The Assembly which was on recess hurriedly recalled members to deliberate on two letters conveyed to it by Hon Imam who was the immediate past Speaker of the House intimating his colleagues of his defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and another one written by the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Bello urging the Assembly to declare the Lokoja 1 seat vacant.
In the letter to the Speaker, Hon. Imam stated the unresolved crisis and factionalisation within the party in Kogi state as one of the reasons for his defection to the SDP, while the letter written by the Chairman of APC urged the Assembly to declare the Lokoja 1 seat vacant.
