Mr Olayiwola Lasaki, Kogi State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged the state government to expedite action on the ongoing renovation work at the scheme’s permanent orientation camp.

He said that the completion of the renovation work on the permanent orientation camp, Asaya, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, was of huge importance to the scheme.

The NYSC coordinator commended the state government for its support and commitment toward the smooth running of NYSC activities in the state.

“We are glad to note that the Gov. Yahaya Bello-led administration has been very supportive of NYSC activities in the state.

“We humbly pray that the ongoing work at the Asaya orientation camp be given serious attention, so that our activities can be moved to that facility,” he said.

The coordinator also commended the traditional institutions in the state for their leadership prowess, saying, “your leadership style has enthroned peace in your respective communities”.

Lasaki, however, expressed regrets that five corps members died during the service year due to ill-health.

In his remarks, Gov. Yahaya Bello commended the corps members for their meritorious service to the state and the nation.

Bello, represented by Mr Musa Idris Bello, the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme at all times.

“I urge corps members serving in the state to always identify and harness available opportunities to promote national unity and development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that five corps members were presented to the governor for state recognition and awards.

Miss Veronica Mmesironye, the most outstanding corps member of the year, told NAN that she was delighted to have impacted positively on her host community.
