Communities Under Attack In Ebonyi For Flouting Sit-at-Home IPOB Order

Palpable tension gripped several communities in Ebonyi State as suspected IPOB members unleashed terror in the state after news broke that the leader of the proscribed group had been arrested .
Property worth millions of naira including unconfirmed number of lives were reportedly lost as the members brazenly unleashed terror in several parts of Ebonyi state in Ikwo, Izzi local governments.
The recent attacks by the proscribed IPOB was a direct response to those who flagrantly disregarded the sit-at-home order of the group as some of the victims targeted were especially local traders .
Investigation revealed that one of the victims of the recent attacks was a Yoruba trader identified as Oladoyin James and was shot at iboko.
Another trader from the South-west popularly known as Baba Rashidat was brutally murdered as he was shot in the head by the group while an Igbo trader escaped with severe machete wounds after his business outlet was razed down by inferno.
Many people including those of Eastern extraction have reportedly fled from the communities in the wake of the recent wanton destruction of lives and property in the respective communities in Ebonyi state.
Many houses have also been burnt down while businesses are also being destroyed and looted by unscrupulous individuals who have solely taken advantage of the unrest in the region.
The recent unrest in Ebonyi state which started on June 28th 2021 has recorded unconfirmed numbers of casualties at the time of filling this report
Many families have also reportedly abandoned their homes over fear of possible attacks on their lives.
Recall that report of widespread killings were reported after some unknown gunmen embarked on a killings spree in izzi, ikwo, Isinkwo last year.
