Collapsed storey building kills woman at Magodo

Mudslide, caused by the downpour on Thursday, has killed a yet-to-be-identified woman, at Unity Close, off Adebiyi Street, Magodo Phase 1, Lagos.

 
It was gathered that the woman, a resident of a  storey building in the area, met her untimely demise after a fence fell on the building. 

According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA),  the corpse had been moved to a nearby hospital, before emergency responders arrived the scene. 

According to the LASEMA Response Team, LRT, that investigated the incident, the victim’s corpse, an adult female, had been moved to a nearby hospital before their arrival.

A statement by the agency’s Head of Public Affairs, Nosa Okunbor,the mudslide has made the area vulnerable more collapse. 

He said: “ Upon arrival at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a fence collapsed on a one storey building as a result of mudslide thereby making the entire area vulnerable to more collapse.

“Further investigation revealed that an adult female lost her life at the scene of incident but had been moved to the hospital before the arrival of the LASEMA Response Team.

“The LASEMA Response Team, Physical Planning, LASBCA and Police were responders at the scene of incident. 

“The entire area has been cordoned off by the LASEMA Response Team to prevent any secondary incident, while the Commissioner for Physical Planning has directed LABSCA on further action”.
