Statistics shows that there are over eight million disadvantaged widows in the country.
Speaking at Ohobo Okwulaga Community Civic center, Umuahia, Abia State during the launching the ministry’s land and widows’ fund project, the General Overseer of the Lord’s Kingdom Intervention Ministry Inc. Rev. Gabriel Nnabuihe, called on the Federal and State governments to reach out to the widows and help give them a sense of belonging.
Nnabuihe, who listed out the challenges facing typical Nigerian widow to include poor healthy living and maltreatment, pointed out that his ministry over the years has been able to supply them with the essence materials needed to help them live long.
He passionately appealed to the government, well spirited individuals and corporate bodies to assist the Church provide a land for the Widows’ ministry so as to continue in their desire to take the gospel across the nation.
Nnabuihe, who said his ministry has visited/empowered over 100 widows, advised them to be active in the work of Christ as the death of their husbands does not mean that Christ is dead.
He said the Church which was founded in 2010 has grown from 16 members to more than eighty members, has touched many lives positively such as giving help to the needy, paying peoples house rent, starting businesses for people and paying their shop rent, sharing gifts to the widows, and visiting the motherless.
He called on the Abia State government to assist the ministry in its efforts to better the lots of widows in the state and beyond, as his ministry has divine mandate to provide succour to vulnerable widows in Nigeria.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Widows’ leader of the Lord’s Kingdom Intervention Ministry Inc., Pastor Ijeoma Alex, informed the gathering that the Ministry has been teaching and exhorting widows, informing them that although they were widows, they have not been forgotten by God who is their comforter.
She said the Ministry which was founded in the year 2014 through the help of the Church’s land Lord, Mr. and Mrs. Obioma Okorie, has reached out to Ahiaeke motherless babies’ homes, School of the blind Afara, and other less privileged in the society, where they shared wrappers, cloths, food items and other items to them.
In their speeches, some of the launchers, Mr. Ifeanyi Eleweke, Chikezie Isikaku sought for interventions from well-meaning Nigerians in order to help build the Church of God and further alleviate the difficulties faced by widows in the society.
