Celebrities to watch out for in 2016

2015 was indeed a memorable year in the entertainment industry. While others could not join the train of trend setters, others sure had lovely experience to talk on. From one major hit to another, down to award-winning movies, giving a clear cut projection that 2016 is filled with lots of bumper packages. In no particular other, here are some of the few entertainers fans will love to see more body of work from; all other acts have been fantastic.

Olamide Adedeji

Popularly known by his stage name Olamide but popularly called Olamide Baddo, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artiste from Bariga, Lagos State. He records mostly in Yoruba, his native tongue. Olamide became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with Cîroc with several awards to his name. He doubles as the CEO of YBNL housing other acts that includes Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Vic O. Crowned as own best entertainer in 2015 with several sold out concerts and four albums to his credit, Baddo is definitely needed to do more works in 2016.

Mercy Aigbe-Gentry

She is one of the most sought-after actress, director and businesswoman. Mercy was indeed one of the busiest acts in 2015 storming one location to another. With several movies to her credit and recently released movie ‘Victim’ indicates that the actress still has a lot to offer in 2016. It is important to note that her latest movie earned her a nomination at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards

Ycee

Oludemilade Martin Alejo popularly known by his stage name Ycee is a Nigerian rapper and a song writer currently signed under inny entertainment. He rose to limelight after one of his singles titled “Condo”, which features vocals from Patoranking, earned him two nominations at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He released a single titled “Jagaban” which received massive airplays and made him more popular among music critics.

Kunle Afolayan

Kunle Afolayan is an actor and also a director. He is the son of the famous theater and producer, Ade Love. He has made several extremely popular titles including The Figurine (Araromire) which was in the Yoruba and English languages. The Figurine won five major awards in the African film academy and experienced tremendous success in the Nigeria movie theaters. October First and also Phone Swap were other popular flicks of Afolayan. Much therefore is expected from him in 2016 with The CEO starting off the New Year.

 Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon

Known by his stage name, Reekado Banks, Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon is a Nigeria recording artiste, rapper and a song writer, signed to Mavin records. He went by the stage name Spicy prior to his record deal with the aforementioned label. He was declared the Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014. He has different albums that are painting the world red. The albums includes Shake am, Katapot and so on. Hoping to get more from him.

Toyin Aimakhu

She is an actress, firm maker, producer and a director. She started acting in the year 2003. Over the years, she has featured in many movies, produced and directed in several Nigeria movies such as Alakada, Alani Baba Labake, Eta Oko and so many. Watch out for many more in 2016.

Ibiyemi Seriki

Known as Seriki, the darkest out of his family, he started music some years back knowing it fully well that making it in Lagos is getting a global recognition. He is always on the street trying to get those knowledge of what the street wants and put them into writing. He use his sword and word to speak the masses and has been real.  He has featured with a lot of artistes and also has his own albums. The street expects more from him in 2016.

Omoni Oboli

Omoni Oboli is a Nigerian actress and producer. In 2010, she won the award for Best Actress, Narrative Feature at the Los Angeles Movie Awards, and the award for Best Actress at the Harlem International Film Festival. She was nominated for the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 2011 Africa Movie Academy Awards. Omoni won Big Screen Actress of the Year award at the 2014 ELOY Awards, for her movie, Being Mrs. Elliot. Watch out for her movies in 2016.

Femi Adebayo

Femi Adebayo is a Nigerian lawyer, film actor, director and a producer. He won the City People Entertainment award for the best movie producer (Yoruba) of the year 2015. He has been a huge success in the Yoruba movie industry. He has a long list of movies to his credit which includes the much anticipated Sonto Alapata, Wura Ati Fadaka, Ma Wobadan and Buga (a very funny one) just to mention a few. Femi is the MD/CEO of J-15 Media Network Nigeria. He has a Master’s degree in Law. More of these are expected from him in 2016.

Lil Kesh

Keshinro Ololade popularly known as Lil-Kesh is a Nigerian singer, rapper and song writer. He is currently signed to YBNL nation, a record label founded by Olamide. He rose to fame after his chart-topping song titled ‘Shoki’ rose to critical acclaim for music critics. He is also known to be behind the massive airplay of songs like gbese, Efejoku and more. He was also nominated in the best new act to watch category at the 2015 Nigerian Entertainment awards.

Fathia Williams

Fathia Williams formerly known as Fathia Balogun is a Nigerian actress, film-maker, producer and director. She has starred, produced and directed several Nigerian films over the years and she has also bagged several awards including the Best Indigenous Language, Yoruba award for the work done in the film, Iya Alalake, at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA. She is a huge success to the Yoruba movie industry and we expect to see more of her in 2016.

Chinko Ekun

Oladipo Olamide Emmanuel popularly known as Chinko ekun is a Nigerian rapper signed under YBNL record label. He is known for his singles like Eminare and alejo Oran, and we expect to see more of him in 2016 as he proved his skills at the second edition of the Olamide Live in concert held in 2015.

Vector

Vector the viper is a Nigerian hip-pop artistes. He has released two studio albums and has won several awards. His rap single, King Kong, was recieved massive airplay in the music industry in 2015. Vector has got a huge stage presence and rapping craft!!! 2016 is seriously dawn on you…… make it worthwhile.

Obi Emelonye

Obi Emenlonye is a Nigerian film director and a movie writer. He is known for directing award winning movies like Last flight to Abuja, The mirror boy, Onye Ozi and Thy will be done. He has also marked himself out as one of  United Kingdom’s contemporary directors with his latest movie where he married Hollywood with Nollywood in Oxford Garden movie.

 Falz the bad guy

Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz the bad guy is a big artiste to look out for in 2016. Hhis song karishika featuring Pyhno and Chi girl has a massive airplay. He has also featured artistes like Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks. He is currently working on his second album. Fans expect more from Falz the bad guy in the year 2016.

Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Kosoko popularly known as Adekunle Gold is a fast rising musician. The Sade crooner is signed under YBNL record label. His single, Sade, brought him to limelight and the song got a massive airplay in 2015. He also released Orente and Pick up which are currently receiving massive airplays. He is also known as the King of Photoshop. We expect to see more of Adekunle Gold in the year 2016.

Simi

Simisola Ogunleye popularly known as Simi has been in the spotlight since the release of singles like Tiff, Jamb question and more. The Mass Communication graduate was formerly a gospel singer. She is currently signed to x3m music. She won the most promising act to watch at the NEA awards 2015.
