Captain Smart: The Versatile Broadcaster and Entrepreneur Making Waves
Smart Uzoechi, widely known as Captain Smart, currently holds the position of Divisional Head, Broadcast Services, and Senior On-Air Personality (OAP) at Inspiration 92.3FM Lagos.
He is the voice behind the popular morning show, “The Breakfast Jam,” which airs every weekday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Captain Smart also anchors several of the station’s flagship programs, including “Sharing Life Issues,” which airs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and “Alpha Club,” an all-male show that airs on Mondays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition to these, he co-hosts the political program “All Out Politics,” which airs every weekday evening.
Before joining Inspiration FM, Captain Smart made a name for himself at Family Love 97.7FM in Port Harcourt, where he served as the Head of Station. His role there involved anchoring news and producing a variety of programs across different genres, including sports, oil & gas, business, politics, and religion. One of his standout creations was “Morning Flight,” a devotional program that quickly became a sensation in Port Harcourt.
Captain Smart’s career journey began in the banking sector, where he gained significant experience before transitioning to broadcasting. He started his banking career in 1998 with International Merchant Bank PLC in Lagos and eventually became a Systems Administrator at the bank’s Port Harcourt branch. After leaving the banking industry in 2007, he ventured into microfinance, managing three microfinance banks in Rivers State. His expertise in this area earned him certifications from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
Since leaving the banking world, Captain Smart has followed his passion for media by establishing AnnieSmart Media, a multimedia and events company he has been running since 2011. In addition to his broadcasting career, he is a corporate and social events compere, counselor, motivational speaker, and mentor. He is married to Annie Smart, a successful entrepreneur, and together they have a daughter, Callista.
