CAN reacts to Plateau killings, says enough is a enough

The youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has frowned at the incessant killing of Christians by the Fulani Herdsmen without any steps taking by the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government to address the ugly trend and bring the perpetrators to book, saying that CAN is stamping it’s foot insisting that enough is enough.
The YOWICAN President, Engr. Daniel Kadzai who spoke on Thursday through a press statement and made available to our correspondent also accused the Nigerian Army for aiding the Fulani bandits in the recent massacre of over 29 people at Nkiedonwhro village of Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Kadzai said CAN reliably gathered that soldiers masterminded the killing, “the people were at home when they heard gunshots, some of them were assured by the soldiers of safety, then, one of the soldiers told the ward head to follow them for protection, and he obliged, believing that the soldiers would give them safety.
“As this was going on, some young men, women and children were gathered in the classroom of a primary school: one of the young men refused to enter the classroom, insisting on staying with the soldiers; the person saw everything that happened.
“He saw some people in the bush giving signs with their hands to the soldiers; It was between 6 : 30 and 7 : 00 pm; he saw the hand as if it was calling some people; the boy told the soldiers, ‘See oo, there is somebody in the bush giving signals with his hands and he is a Fulani person.
‘‘He said that immediately after that, there was a gunshot and the soldiers advised residents to remain in the classroom while they (the soldiers ) went for the attackers: he alleged that one of the soldiers signalled the assailants to attack”.
The CAN youth President also said “YOWICAN has obtained audio recordings of the incident with confirmation from a former Local Government Area Chairman and one of the pastors in the area: this audio piece of evidence will be made available soon to the general public”.
He said the brutal attack on Christians in Bassa last Saturday and Sunday respectively is the second of such attacks in just less than 3 weeks, saying that a similar case was also sighted in the attacks against Christians in Agatu, Benue State and Southern Kaduna few months ago.
“We affirm that the massacred were first Nigerian citizens before they were Christians and among those killed were mostly young Christians”.
Kadzai said that with the growing trend of the unabated killing, CAN is launching the harsh tag #Enough is Enough# to draw the attention of government and the world at large on the aim to wipe out Christians from Nigeria.
The YOUWICAN President said while the Fulani herdsmen and the Miyetti Allah are allowed to work freely, an innocent group simply agitating for self realization were quickly branded a terrorist group, “thank God that the United Nations, United Kingdom and the United States have refused to see IPOB as such”, he said.
