CAN Election: Aggrieved CAN members urged to embrace peace

The National Youth President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Engr. Daniel Kadzai, has called on the aggrieved faction of CAN over the out come of the election that saw the emergence of Rev. Samson OA. Ayokunle, as the new CAN president, to shield their sword and work for the common goal of the association.

Kadzai, said that the essence of coming together under one umbrella is to further propagate the gospel of Christ with a greater vigor and to protect all that hitherto belong to the body of Christ.

He said that it is only God that appoints a leader and as Christians,”it is bestowed on us to rally support for whomever God has appointed to lead His sheep at every given time”, he said.

Daily Times gathered that supporters of the contestant from the ECWA / TEKAN Bloc, Rev Dr Jeremiah Gado has dragged the body of CAN that conducted the election to court.

Worried by this development, the youth president has taken steps to set in motion mechanism that will dialogue with the aggrieved faction with the aim to sue for peace.

According to him, “the body of Christ is one, it does not matter who is in the helm of affairs, our common gaol therefore is to work collectively as people who are united in the body of Christ”, he emphasized.

Recall that ahead of the expiration of the tenure of the former President, Pastor Ayo
Oritsejafor in July, tension mounted within the Christian community following alleged plans by President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress, (APC), to install a Northern successor.

Which appeared to be a repeat of what transpired during the administration of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

It was alleged that APC, was said to be interested in sponsoring a pro-Buhari clergy from the North to avoid any radical opposition to his administration from the Christian community.

You would also recall that a group of Christians under the umbrella of Christ Redeemers Union, had earlier claimed that the Presidency was interested in CAN election for some selfish reasons.

But the Presidency debunked the allegation, saying Buhari did not interfere in an internal affairs of any organisation
