Calm Atmosphere as 189 Candidates Jostle for 26 Legislative Seats in Osun

 

As the State House of House of Assembly election holds in Osun, the atmosphere seems to be calm in Osogbo.

Residents say the relatively calm atmosphere is because no governorship election.

It would be recalled that Osun State has had its governorship election on August 9, 2014.

During the election, All Progressives Congress candidate, Rauf Aregbesola defeated Iyiola Omisore of Peoples Democratic Party.

As the election starts today(Saturday), no fewer than 17 registered political parties are contesting the 26 seats of the Osun State House of House of Assembly.

The political parties are parading 189 candidates for the 26 legislative seats in the assembly.

At present, the 26 seats are occupied by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

The State Director of Public Affairs of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. Adenike Tadese, stated after the completion of distribution of sensitive materials to all the 30 Local Government Councils of the state.‎

Osun State Police Command reiterated restriction of vehicular movements order.

He warned that anybody caught during the State House of Assembly today will be dealt with accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police also appealed to the electorate to conduct themselves in a manner that will not disrupt hitch free exercise.
