Bwacha gives scholarship to 263 students, distributes items to senatorial zone

Senate deputy minority leader, Emmanuel Bwacha, has given scholarship award to about 263 southern Taraba students in various tertiary institutions across the nation for their educational advancement.

Senator Bwacha, who represents Taraba South in the National Assembly under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated Wednesday on the occasion of, ‘Senator Emma Bwacha 2016 Scholarship Award and Distribution of Assorted Items to Constituents’, held at Atoshi Recreation Centre, Wukari, headquarters of Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State said the Scholarship Scheme worth about N6.6million.
According to the lawmaker, the scheme was a continuation of his 2003 project when he was serving as a member of the House of Representatives pointing out that since he came on board to represent his zone at the National Assembly, it has been his desire to initiate projects that have direct bearings on the lives of the people at the grassroots.
The Daily Times gathered that 3,500 bags of rice worth N32m, 177 Sewing Machines, 20 Grinding Machines and 6 Ambulance Busses were commissioned at the occasion and distributed to the 5 Local Government Areas of Ibi, Wukari, Takum, Donga, Ussa and Yangtu Special Development Area.
Senator Bwacha further explained that the items were aimed at empowering the youths and women from Taraba South for them to be self-reliant while the Ambulance Buses were part of his intervention in health sector for the zone.
He however, called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items distributed saying, “Recession is biting harder but when you have something doing, you will be able to stand the heat.”

Emmanuel Bwacha assured that he is making frantic efforts to ensure that the rehabilitation of Ibi – Wukari road which according to him was captured in the 2017 Appropriation Act, estimated at about N1.5bn is implemented.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Southern Taraba Senatorial zone Chairman of PDP, Mr. Bala Bako told the lawmaker that the Party and people from the zone are proud of him stressing that they will always identify and cooperate with him, promote and support him.
He enjoined other political office holders in the state to emulate Senator Bwacha and organize similar programmes to enable their people enjoy more dividends of democracy, which they are yearning for.
