Buhari Urged to Uphold Nigerian Army

The President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to overhaul the country’s security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army, in its initiative towards finding lasting solutions in some volatile areas of the country.

Sidi, stated this in Bauchi while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi, stressing that this is necessary, in order for the Nigerian Army to meet up with the challenge of insurgency and restore their integrity, bring back the Chibok girls who had been in captivity, for more than a year.

He explained that for the military and other security agencies to operate successfully, government should ensure that they got their entitlements, their welfare taken care of and well equipped, in readiness for any task ahead.

Said he: “The new government of General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) should take good care of the Nigeria Army so that they can offer adequate protection and maintain law and order.”

On agriculture, Sidi urged  Buhari to implement policies

that would empower farmers and boost food production in the country, especially dry season farming to encourage  availability of food products.

Sidi advised the incoming President –elect to appoint knowledgeable and patriotic technocrats as ministers and special aides in his government rather than politicians whose ambition is to plunder the nation’s wealth for themselves and their family.

He called on the president elect to grant local government autonomy for effective impact of dividends of democracy as they are closer to the people in the grassroots.
