Buhari Signs Eight Bills Into Law.

* Meets Saraki behind closed doors

President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to eight different bills passed recently by the National Assembly.

This is just as the President  held a closed door meeting with Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.

The various bills which has now become laws are expected to impact on various aspects of the economy.

Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly matters, Ita Enang, stated this shortly after meeting with President Buhari

Senator Enang disclosed that the bills were signed  into law on Tuesday.

The bills include: The National judicial institute Amendment Act 2016; Advertising Practitioners Registration Amendment Act 2016; Utilities Charges Commission Amendment Act 2016; Quantity Surveyors Registration Amendment Act 2016.

Others include the Small and Medium Scale Industries Development Agency Amendment Act 2016; Treaty to establish African economic community relating to the pan African parliament (accession and jurisdiction) amendment act 2016; University of Abuja Amendment Act 2016 and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers Amendment Act 2016.

Enang told journalists at the Presidential Villa that the bills were passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to the President for assent and “Mr. President today assented to it today and have automatically become law”.

Meanwhile  details of the President’s meeting with the Senate President was not immediately available, the meeting which held at the President’s office may not be unconnected with the controversies surrounding the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

There were also indications that issues affecting the recent resolution in respect of the office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal , may have also been part of the meeting.
At the end of the meeting which lasted for about 30 minutes the duo proceeded to the mosque to pray.

Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, on Monday met with President Buhari on the same issue and told reporters that the Senate had not rejected Magu but wee waiting explanation from the President.
