Buhari sacks Nunieh, enlarges NDDC management c’ttee

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ms. Joy Nunieh, replacing her with Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei.

Also, the President has approved the enlargement of the membership of Interim Management Committee of the NDDC from three to five.

The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed the development in a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the five members of the committee are now Prof. Pondei, who is the acting managing director, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, the acting executive director (projects) and Ibanga Etang, acting executive director (finance and administration).

Other members of the interim management are Mrs. Caroline Nagbo and Cecilia Bukola Akintomide, a former vice president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Pondei, the new acting managing director is a professor of medicine at the Niger Delta University and a former provost, college of health sciences of the institution.

Buhari had earlier approved that the interim management committee would be in place till the forensic audit of the NDDC was concluded.
