Buhari, Lawan, Atiku laud editors guild for successful convention

President Muhammadu Buhari and others have commended the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) for holding a hitch-free conventionin Kano.
Buhari also congratulated members of the new executives re-elected and the ones who won fresh seats.
The President, in a statement his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, commended the rancour-free conduct of the elections and the unanimous acceptance of the outcome, saying this has set a good standard for other unions to copy.
Buhari called on the newly-elected executive to join his administration in the efforts to rid the country of fake news and to avoid negativism, advising the media to abstain from content that is against the maintenance of law and order and the sustenance of National security.
In calling for partnership between the two, the President says the media and the government working together, “can, and will build a strong, safe, secure and inclusive Nigeria,” he said.
Also reacting to the NGE Convention, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, congratulated Mustapha Isah on his election as President of NGE.
Lawan also congratulated other members of the Executive of the guild who were newly elected or re-elected on Tuesday by their fellow editors.
