Buhari Can’t Resign Over Sickness, Says Engr. Kayode Ojo

A front line All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Engr Kayode Ojo, has described as unjustifiable action, the call by some groups for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over his ailment.
He said though the protesters reserved the rights to exercise their fundamental rights, but that such should be done with human face and not to denigrate a president for falling sick while in office.
As agitations mounted over calls for restructuring in terms of power devolution , the governorship aspirant urged the citizens to support restructuring that would bring positive change and not those that will cause cleavage in terms of ethnic and religious compositions.
Engr. Ojo was reacting to two days protest staged by Civil Society groups in Abuja, led by Charles Oputa (Charly Boy and Mr. Jim Iyke, where they demanded for Buhari’s resignation, having spent over 90 days in a London Hospital for undisclosed ailment.
The governorship aspirant spoke in Ijero Ekiti on Thursday while declaring his intention for the 2018 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.
Ojo at the event attended by top notches of the party was received by APC local government Chairman in Ijero Council , Hon Bright Adeyemo.
Addressing the gathering , Ojo, who described the impending governorship poll in the state as a must-win for APC, promised to join hands with other like-minded party men to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the election.
“The protesters have constitutional rights to do so, but we are all human beings who can fall ill and get well later. We have to put ourselves in President Buhari’s shoes, so I disagree with them that he should resign on the basis of sickness.
“Former President , serving governors, and well-wishers had visited President Buhari in London. He is fast recovering and will soon report at his duty post, so the call was not right”, he said.
On the contentious power devolution issue that had gained national attention. Ojo said: “I support every step every restructuring and amendments to our constitution that will bring prosperity to our people.
“My contesting for governorship was borne out of the passion to return Ekiti’s integrity and return act of self-reliant , which Ekiti was known for”.
Ojo appealed to APC members in Ekiti to be patient and peaceful as the preparations for the poll gather momentum, saying : “It will be a great disaster for us to lose again and wait again for another four years”.
