Buhari, APC chieftains felicitate with Yakubu Dogara at 50
President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as he turned 50 years.
Buhari joined the National Assembly, the Nigerian Bar Association, friends and family of the “erudite and charismatic leader” in celebrating the years of remarkable achievements and awards that have culminated into this golden jubilee.
The President, in a statement on Tuesday by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina, extolled Dogara’s humility, simplicity and discipline in providing exceptional leadership for the lower house for over two years by diligently bridging the gaps and creating a harmonious atmosphere for debates and exchange of ideas for national development.
President Buhari affirmed that the Speaker’s personal attributes of selflessness, maturity and friendliness have substantially eased the relationship between the Executive and the Legislative arm, resulting in the passage of bills that directly impact the livelihood of Nigerians.
He said, “On behalf of the Federal Executive Council and all Nigerians, President Muhammadu Buhari warmly felicitates with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as he turns 50 years.”
Recalling his personal interactions with the Speaker, and having followed his political trajectory in the House of Representatives, Buhari believes Nigeria’s future can only be secured with great leadership by younger Nigerians, who are fired with the zeal to build one great nation that everyone can call a home.
Buhari prays that the almighty God will grant the Speaker longer life, good health and wisdom to serve the country and humanity.
In his tribute, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank said that Dogara has made the youths of the country proud adding that his emergence as Speaker of the Lower House has turned out to be a blessing to the younger generation and the party.
Also, he said that he had never doubted the capacity of the Bauchi born politician to lead the green chambers.
He described Dogara as a torchbearer for the younger generation in the current political dispensation adding that: “Despite the circumstances surrounding the speaker’s emergence, he has remained loyal and committed to the party.
“I am proud of your legislative dynamism. I am proud of your intelligence, humility, hard-work, honesty and integrity. I celebrate the grace of God upon your life. In you and your likes lies the hope of our democracy”, he said.
Frank said the achievements and stabilizing role of Yakubu Dogara as an administrator and lawmaker “makes me pray to have you around in the next 50 years and more”.
According to Frank, the speaker has justified the confidence reposed in him by piloting affairs of the Green Chambers creditably.
While praying that God should grant him longer life, good health and wisdom to serve the country and humanity, the APC chieftain urged Dogara’s constituents and his colleagues at the green chambers to continue to support his leadership which Frank believed “is people oriented”, calling other politicians to emulate his virtues.
