Breaking: Senate suspends Senator Abdul Ningi

The Senate has suspended Senator Abdul Ningi (Bauchi Central) for a period of three months.
During the period of suspension, he loses all privileges as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and must stay away from the Senate.
His suspension followed being found guilty of making false allegation of budget padding against the Godswill Akpabio – led Senate to the tune of N3.7trillion and unfounded claim that the nation runs two different budgets.
Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation moved a motion of urgent public importance in which it was resolved that decisive action must be taken to serve as deterrent in order not to put the image of the Senate into disrepute.
An amendment to suspend Ningi for 12 months was first amended to six months and later three months.
