Breaking: Possible Mali coup as Soldiers arrest senior officer for mutiny

Mali seems to be heading towards a possible coup as soldiers on Tuesday took up arms in Kati town and began arresting top military officers.

An officer in Mali’s Ministry of International Security said, “Arrests are being made of officials. It’s total confusion,”.

Meanwhile this action is coming two weeks after political demonstrations calling for the resignation of president Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, Daily Times gathered.

The streets of Kati currently has armored tanks and military vehicles.

The French Embassy in Bamako tweeted that residents of Kati and Bamako should stay indoors amid the latest developments.

However the president of the national assembly, the foreign minister and the chief of staff of Mali were arrested.
