Pirlo’s confirmation as the new gaffer comes less than 24 hours after Maurizzio Sarri’s sack, following the club’s exit from the Uefa Champions League at the round of 16 stage.
Pirlo, who starred for the club between 2011-2015, winning four successive Scudettos in the process, will be looking to make a better impression in Europe next term, having seen previous managers exit the club upon failure to win the elusive UCL title.
The highly stylish midfielder (in his playing days), will face a daunting challenge of managing a star-studded dressing room, having never managed at first team level before. His promotion to the first team come less than a month after being appointed coach of the Juventus U-23 team.
