BREAKING: Heavy Security Checks Greets Visitors At NASS

On Thursday morning, there was anxiety as operatives subjected lawmakers, their colleagues, and tourists to a rigorous stop-and-search at the National Assembly complex’s entrance gates.

Staff members of the NASS and journalists working in the complex were also required to show identification before being allowed entry.

The drill caused major traffic congestion, making access to the complex extremely difficult.

Despite the fact that the operation could be linked to security threats in the country and the assertion by Niger Governor that Boko Haram fighters were just two hours away from the FCT, a source said the exercise was carried out on police orders.
