Breach of peace: FG files perjury, conspiracy charge against Monarch Igwe Uyanwa, 9 others

The Federal Government has filed an 11 count charge at the Federal High Court Abuja against His Royal Highness, Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa – Ezedike Ukwulu, Kingdom and nine others for perjury and alleged breach of peace in Ukwulu Kingdom in Anambra State.
Others defendants in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/ CR /255/2019 filed on October 29 are Chief Walter Okafor (M), Chief Boniface Kamuche (M), Mr. Michael Eziachalla (M), Chief Christian Nwadiuto(M), Iche Godwin Anigbata (M), Mr. Ezekiel Aniekwe (M),Chief Peter Mmonife (M), Iche Agu Felix Uzodigwe (M) and Comrade Austine Maduka (M).
The Federal Government through the Force Criminal Investigation Legal Department (FCILD) said the defendants in separate affidavits on oath portrayed that late Igwe T.C.Tagbo recommended and nominated Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa as his successor to the kwonledge of all Ukwulu stakeholders, a falsehood that bring severe opprobrium to the family of late Igwe T.C. Tagbo from some sections of Ukwulu people who feel shortchange by Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa’s ascendency to the throne, knowing it to be false.
As the defendants knew that late Igwe T. C. Tagbo signed the Ukwulu chieftaincy Constitution in 1986 which stipulates the ascendency of a successor to the throne of Ukwulu when its become vacant.

The offences were allegedly committed between May 3 and November 22 ,2018 and are punishable under section 118 of the Criminal Code Act CAP C38 law of the federation.
Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa , Chief Walter Okafor and Iche Boniface Kamuche within same period also made false depositions that there was a serious wrangling between the Community and the Catholic Church which resulted in the remain of late T.C. Tagbo not taken to church for requiem mass as a Catholic on March 10, 2018.because according to the defendants the event was his last Ofala and purely traditional.
Also defendants – Comrade Austine Maduka, Chief Walter Okafor Chief Christian Nwadiuto and others at large were said to have in Abuja published in the internet a debased picture of late Igwe Tagbo in manner that provoked breach of public peace in Ukwulu community.
Count number six also read: “That you Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa, Chief Walter Okafor and Ichie Boniface Kamuche, Mr Michael Eziachalla, Chief Christian Nwadiuto, Ichie Godwin Anigbata, Mr Ezekiel Aniekwe, Chief Peter Monife, Ichie Agu Felix Uzodigwe and Comrade Augustine Maduka sometime in 2018 withing jurisdiction of this honourable court did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to writ: fabricating evidence in suit No. A/525/2017 and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Act CAP ‘C38’ Laws of the Federation, 2004.
and Comrade Augustine Maduka sometime in 2018 withing jurisdiction of this honourable court did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to writ: fabricating evidence in suit No. A/525/2017 and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Act CAP ‘C38’ Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The defendants are expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court 6 presided over by Justice Okon Abang on November 7 .
