Borno Assistant Police Commissioner Dies in Fatal Crash
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department of the Borno State Command, Abubakar Balteh, is dead.
In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Nahum Daso, said Balteh died in a vehicle accident on February 21, 2026.
“The Borno State Police Command regrets the passing of ACP Abubakar A. Balteh, who passed away today, February 21, 2026, in a fatal vehicle accident.
“Until his demise, he served diligently as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Borno State Command,” the statement read.
Daso said details regarding burial arrangements and other related information would be communicated in due course.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest,” he added.
In November 2025, the command also announced the death of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Ahmed Ibn Umar, who died after a prolonged illness.
