The renewed bombing in the Northeastern part of the country, has spurred Security Agencies in Plateau State to beef up security within its borders, to forestall any form of attack by miscreants, even as Christmas gets underway.
Speaking with the Coordinator, Operation Rainbow (a state owned security out-fit), Maj. Gen Steven Guar, he said that water tight patrol within the borders of Plateau is in place aimed at monitoring, to halt those with bad motives from coming into the state.
Guar said that he has synergised with other sister agencies in information gathering, to ensure that any attempt by miscreants to cause havoc in the state during and after the yuletide season is met with brick walls.
He noted that the peace process put in place by the state government is yielding result, hence the need to sustain it as renewed bombing is beginning to gain headlines, especially now that Christmas is few weeks ahead.
His words, “during the festivity we shall intensify our physical patrol within the state to ensure that everybody is assured of his safety and nip in the bud any situation that will otherwise create tension and sense of insecurity”, he said.
Guar also hold the view that the current crisis rocking neighboring Southern Kaduna State, is as a result of the failure of providing internal security, adding that the border between Kaduna and Plateau is currently beefed up to check influx of people within the said axis.
“Its unfortunate that this is happening just at the fringing of our borders, and now what we are contending with, is the influx of people from Southern Kaduna crossing into Plateau for sanctuary”.
He dismissed the insinuation from some quarters that the Fulani attacking Southern Kaduna are from neighboring Chad or Cameroon, saying that Fulani in other countries has nothing to do with the people of Southern Kaduna, hence the need to step up internal security in all states of the federation.
