Bode George worried over card readers failure in Lagos

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Chief Olabode George, has expressed concern over the failure of card readers deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the general elections in Lagos.
He said reports from various parts of the state indicates that the card readers malfunctioned.
George stated this, while speaking with journalists, after he was accredited in his polling unit at Evan Street on Lagos Island.
The PDP chieftain, who said his party was confident of victory in the presidential election and National Assembly election, said the PDP would not accept a situation where many eligible voters are disenfranchised by INEC.
He said this is because Lagosians are tired of the ruling party in the state and any attempt to deny them their God given right to vote for change will not be accepted.
George, who accused Jega of experimenting with the destiny of Nigerians warn that the elections must be free and fair.
“We have reports from several locations that the card readers failed. In my own case, the card reader worked, but couldn’t pick my finger prints.
” I hope it is not true that the President and his wife were not accredited.
” I am hoping because Lagos is waiting for change,if we keep having this kind of stories, people will get on the edge.
” I am praying and hoping, it would not be a massive case all over. If you deny the people the opportunity to exercise their God given right, it may conflagrate the system. The elections must be free and fair,” he stated.
George called on the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega to tell the nation what contingency plan, the electoral commission has for areas where the card reader failed.
