Bode George: Davido, his father funding Osun workers’ salaries for months

Bode George, former governor of Ondo state, has revealed that Osun state workers’ salaries are being paid from the pockets of the Adeleke family.
The PDP chieftain made the revelation in an interview with Nigeria Info FM on Saturday as he sheds light on the news surrounding Adeleke’s proposed move to APC.
Jimi Disu, the host, sought clarification on if the Osun state governor would actually join the ruling party or not ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election.
“What is happening with Governor Adeleke, is he going to the APC or not,” he asked.
Responding to the question, Bode George drew parallels between the situation of the state and the reason behind the “now cancelled” plan to switch parties.
“I had had an in-depth discussion with him and the first time we spoke; he informed me that he would be leaving the party. I was shell-shocked and I said to him, and I said to him ‘Your Excellency, think very carefully and deeply’.
“His state has not been paid their local government allowances from the federation account. The federal government is owing Osun about 6 billion naira that he had to carry the burden between him, his older brother and his nephew, Davido,” he said.
The PDP elderly statesman mentioned that the governor had decided to take up the burden of paying salaries so as not to disappoint those who believed in him enough to vote him in power.
“For the last 5-6 months, they have been funding the salaries from their personal pocket because the governor could not watch the workers going home at the end of the month without their salaries,” he added.
Bode George revealed how the ruling party tried to intimidate Adeleke into joining them by holding onto their allocation and how he advised him against doing so.
“The court has already ruled that the FG should pay them the allocation but nobody has done that. So, I asked to be careful and take lessons from how his older brother, late Isiaka Adeleke, also a former governor of Osun state was treated by the APC.
“If you get there with your people and they organize any primaries and end up announcing someone else as the winner, your political career is gone,” the ex-governor said.
Speaking further, he mentioned how Governor Adeleke reached out to him during the NEC meeting, to express his gratitude and to affirm his loyalty to PDP come what may.
