While Bobbi Kristina Brown continues to fight for her life at Atlanta’s Dekalb Medical hospital, her father Bobby Brown, has filed for guardianship over her estate.
The is happening just a week after differing opinions on Bobbi Kristina’s medical condition.
According to NBC, Bobby Brown’s decision to file for guardianship of his daughter’s estate was met with resistance by Cissy Houston, Bobbi Kristina’s maternal grandmother.
Houston’s Lawyer, David W. Long, released a statement on saturday:
“This is a family matter involving sensitive information. We hope to resolve this in a manner that is respectful of Bobbi Kristina’s sensitive health information. The Houston family has always looked out for the best interest of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The family has done so all of her life and will continue to do so. We trust that others have the same objective.”
Bobby Brown’s recent claim that his daughter is now awake may have been a turning point in his decision to file for guardianship of Bobbi Kristina’s estate.
While he announced to a crowd of cheering fans at his April 18 Dallas concert that his 22-year-old daughter is awake and watching over him, Houston released a claim shortly after, indicating that although Bobbi Kristina is no longer in a medically-induced coma, her condition shows no improvement.
“I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital, and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma, she has a tracheotomy, and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive.”
However, just days after Houston’s claim, Bobby Brown’s attorney, Christopher Brown, issued a statement, indicating that Bobbi Kristina is indeed showing improvement and on her way to a long rehabilitation process.
Since the Houston family and Brown family seem to be looking at the situation differently, Brown may want to ensure he has full control over how long Bobbi Kristina receives treatment, by taking over her estate, which contains an estimated $20 million.
Meanwhile, Nick Gordon, 26, remains under investigation regarding the January 31 incident that left Bobbi Kristina lying face-down in her own bathtub, unconscious.
