Berom youth advise politicians against profiting from insecurity in Plateau

A group under the aegis of Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) has called on politicians to stop taking advantage of the security situation in Berom land to woe voters.

National President of BYM, Mr. Gabriel Badung stated this in Jos, during a press briefing.

He said politicians should stop taking advantage of the security situation in the state to woo the electorate, adding that it’s unfortunate that the precarious security situation has become a selling point for some politicians.

Badung implored politicians to use issue based and superior arguments to sell their candidates, rather than cheap blackmail and insults, and youth in the state to be mindful of their disposition regarding those in position of authority.

“Those politicians who are using us for dirty jobs do not mean well for us and our immediate families. We have realized that some people who have succeeded in destroying our yesterday and today, are also bent on taking advantage of our tomorrow by using some of us to achieve their evil machinations.

“Our youth will come out en masse on Saturday to vote for a candidate of their choice who will genuinely work for the unity and plight of the people. It has become mandatory at this point for our people to come up with a position that will be for the best interest of the Berom nation.

“A lot of tension, anxiety and apprehension were experienced during the delay in announcement of result for Plateau North Senatorial election. We appreciate God Almighty that during and after the announcement, no life was lost.

“Though, some little attempts were made on the property and life of some individuals. We condemn such unruly behaviour in totality,” he stated.

Badung advised the youth not to make themselves available as willing tools in the hands of politicians who will not add any value to their lives.

“We want to make this position known to the public that we have our people in different political parties and the impression that we belong to a particular one is false,” he added.

While applauding government, INEC and security agencies for conducting peaceful elections in Plateau state, he also urged them to make significant improvement during the next elections.
