BBNaija’s Neo Threatens Legal Action after Rape Allegations

Neo Akpofure, a former Big Brother Naija Season 5 (Lockdown edition) housemate, has threatened legal action against a social media user who made a rape allegation against him on X (formerly Twitter), demanding a public retraction and apology within 48 hours or face a defamation lawsuit.

In a letter dated February 18, 2026, signed by Chief Victor O. Idiapho for E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., the reality TV star’s lawyers described the allegation as “entirely false, malicious, and defamatory.” The letter warned that failure to comply with their demands would result in immediate legal action, without further notice.

The letter was addressed to Ms Arikan Udoka, who uses the X handle “the violently wicked (@notralia).” According to the lawyers, Udoka posted on February 17, 2026, at 6:34pm:

“@NeoAkpofure is also a rapist.” He raped me at UNICAL. He should come forward and deny it. We were casual sex buddies with the understanding that he was not in a relationship. I learned who he was and went to his apartment to confront him. So, he raped me. Neo, come and tell me you didn’t do it.”

The alleged defamatory post has now been removed from the user’s X account.

In response to the post, Akpofure’s lawyers argued that the publication acknowledged a prior consensual sexual relationship but went on to accuse him of rape, which they described as “an extremely serious criminal offense.”

“It is clear from the above content that you admitted that you and our Client had a casual, consensual sexual relationship. “Despite this admission, you falsely accused our Client of rape,” the letter stated.

The lawyers argued that the accusation paints their client “as a sexual offender and a criminal,” exposing him to “public odium, reputational injury, emotional distress, and severe personal and professional damage.”

They also stated that the post is “actionable libel under Nigerian law,” subjecting the user to significant civil liability and potential criminal sanctions. The legal team demanded that Udoka take several actions, including:

“Immediate removal of the alleged defamatory post from X and any other platform where it may have been shared or reposted; A clear, unequivocal public retraction” stating that the allegations were false.

“A public apology acknowledging that the previous statement was “untrue, misleading, and injurious.” A written undertaking to refrain from making further defamatory statements about their client.

The lawyer warned that failure to comply would result in immediate legal action.

“Take notice that should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply, we have our Client’s firm and irrevocable instructions to initiate all appropriate legal proceedings against you without further notice,” the letter stated.
