Bauchi partners foundation, PIDI-Nigeria on promoting good governance

The Bauchi state government has expressed its readiness to partner with Cleen Foundation and Prison Inmate Development Initiative (PIDI-Nigeria) in its quest to ensure transparency, accountability and good governance.
Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Umaru Adamu stated this recently, when members of the non-governmental organizations working in collaboration with the state government paid him an advocacy visit.

The two organizations were in his office as part of their advocacy campaign for Bauchi state to domesticate the whistle -blower policy of the federal government to checkmate financial impropriety in the public sector.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Mansur Abdul, the commissioner commended the two organizations for making efforts to ensure that the whistle -blower policy is domesticated in the state.
According to him, government cannot do everything without being checkmated by civil society organizations in order to do things the right way for the betterment of all.
The commissioner advised public office holders not be materialistic, adding that there should also be social orientation in such a way that people at the grassroots would be sensitized to be useful to themselves and the society.
“The whistle -blower policy shouldn’t be seen as an act of witch-hunt or aimed at blackmailing somebody because that’s the problem of our people. There should be proper use of government funds,” he said.
The commissioner prayed that the COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world will be a thing of the past for people to go back to their normal lives.
Earlier, the Executive Director of PIDI-Nigeria, Mbami Sabka told the commissioner that they were in his office to advocate for the domestication of the whistle -blower policy in Bauchi state.
