Bandits Strike Again: Four Feared Kidnapped in Fresh Attack on Kwara Community

Tension has gripped the Kakafu community in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State following a midnight raid by suspected bandits that resulted in the abduction of four residents.

The attack, which reportedly occurred around 1:30 am on Sunday, has left the agrarian settlement in shock.

According to local sources, the gunmen stormed the village under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically into the air to create panic before whisking their victims away to an unknown destination.

Preliminary reports indicate that the abducted victims include one male and three females. Further findings suggest a heartbreaking family tragedy, as the three female victims are believed to be a mother and her two daughters.

A forest guard in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident to The Punch. He lamented the lack of security presence at the time of the attack, noting that the remote village is located on the outskirts of Patigi town.

“The incident happened during the dark hours at Kakafu,” the source said. “The alarm was raised this morning, and we immediately mobilised to the community. We combed the surrounding bush paths but could not trace the attackers or the victims.”

Residents of Kakafu are reportedly living in fear, with many suspecting that the assailants may still be lurking in nearby forests or villages. The assailants reportedly operated for several minutes without facing any resistance.

“People are still in shock. Panic has gripped the community because the assailants are believed to be hiding in nearby villages,” the source added.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Kwara State Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that the command had not yet received an official report on the incident.

“I am not aware of the incident at the moment. Please, I will get back to you as soon as I obtain the necessary details,” she said.

This latest incident adds to the growing wave of insecurity in Kwara State, coming on the heels of recent attacks in neighboring communities that have sparked concerns over the safety of residents in border towns and rural settlements.
