Bad Belle – M.I Ft Moti

After a long absence from the music scene, I must say that M.I’s return with a new album Chairman, hasn’t done quite well like we all had expected.

One of the singles off the album, Bad Belle in which he featured Moti Cakes, sounds like the one-time-hot rapper has almost lost his magic judging from his fan’s responses to the video.

The 3:24 seconds video opens with some sort of drama; from the street, to people smoking and doing their thing on the streets. It isn’t quite clear what the message in those scenes were but we want to assume it depicted some form of what the title of the song is.
Nice choice of beat and tempo, a characteristics of M.I who loves the slow yet steady kind of beat. He comes in with his rap lines which didn’t sound off quite as expected. It was too weak, it could have been punchier.

His rap lines were clear so his fans would surely like the fact that they could hear all he rapped about.

Again, the good video setting was cool; the tyres, closed door, the mean-looking crowd- all expected of a rap video.

His choice of costumes, good lighting, clean shots and effects were not too bad as well.

The video is also star studded. There was Basketmouth, Sasha, Mode Nine, Sound Sultan, D.J Sose, DJ Spinall, Adams, 2shotz and others. Basketmouth sure did well to add some forme of humour in his scene.

Since the beat isn’t such a danceable one, it was nice the crew was able to substitute dance with nice moves.

The props; cups, painted walls, booze, were also in the right proportion. And, that choreographic move by the crew towards the end of the video was a clincher.

From feelers, it looks like his fans didn’t really feel this video because up until the time of publication, it had just 188,149 views on Youtube since it was released on Dec. 4, 2014. The number of views is a far cry from his earlier releases, as even other videos from less known artistes had like between two-three hundred thousand views.

Again, as good as the video is, it hasn’t been receiving massive airplay on television and radio stations like it should.

However, the video is a good one.
It’s worth 8/10.
