We are backing Obaze for Obi — Abia Group

Alphonsus Nweze, Awka

The Abia state indigenes resident in Anambra state have vowed to use their votes and network of contacts to work for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, to emerge the winner of Anambra state Governorship contest in November 18, 2017.

The Coordinator of Abia indigenes resident in Anambra State, Chief Amechi Ukoro, stated this after their general meeting in Awka the State capital. He stated that their decision to back Obaze was hinged on the attitude of the incumbent Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, who abandoned them after they had worked for his victory in 2013 governorship election.

The Coordinator said the group in 2013 printed handbills and posters free of charge which they personally handed over to Obiano at Aguleri stadium in the presence of his predecessor, Chief Peter Obi, the former national chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, Joe Martins Uzodike, who was his campiagn director-general.

He said since then each time they visited Obiano, they would not allow them to see him both in Aguleri and in Awka, saying ” we still have remnants of the handbills and posters”

“So, we believe he don’t need our support and that is why we have decided in this election to back Obaze. We have resolved to work to ensure that Abia people in Anambra state vote for Oseloka Obaze in this election, who we are meant to understand will work tirelessly like Obi to develop Anambra state” said the Coordinator.

Ukoro said if Obi whose records beat that of his predecessors and other states in the South East would endorse Obaze, it followed therefore that he has something in him that will help to take Anambra state to the next level.

He said after critical assessment of the candidates in this race, Obaze came atop on all fronts including credibility and capacity to perform.
