Baby RAAMP Delivered in Kogi State after many years of conception – Hon. Daniel Oneal Ejigbo, Kogi Rural Development Commissioner

The efforts of Gov. Yahaya Bello’s administration in connecting the rural dwellers with the urban cities has yielded fruits as it has gotten the first phase of funding under the Nigeria Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Rural Development, Hon. Daniel Oneal Ejigbo made the disclosure while Speaking with Newsmen, expressed satisfaction that RAAMP has been delivered in the State.

According to the Commissioner, the RAAMP project entails the construction of 500km asphalt of road, 2000km of spots improvement, rehabilitation and river crossing, described the project as the first of its kind in Africa.

The Commissioner explained that the project would be in phases, explained that the first phase of RAAMP entails connecting all Kogi major market and commercial hub to the urban cities, described the project as rural transformation inclined.

The Commissioner disclosed that the RAAMP project is borne out of the desire of Gov. Bello to uplift the socio-economic development of the rural dwellers with their produce to the urban centres.

The developmental objectives of RAAMP the Kogi State Commissioner explained is to improve rural access and agricultural marketing in the state, added that it would help strengthen the financing and institutional base of the state for effective development, maintenance and management of the rural road network.

Hon. Daniel added that with the RAAMP, the State will begin the construction of roads in Major markets across the three Senatorial District, described Gov. Yahaya Bello’s love and passion to make Rural dwellers comfortable by positively impacting on lives of the people he explained remains top on his priorities.

The Commissioner identified rural development as the cornerstone to national transformation, said under RAAMP, the present administration would construct all roads in identified major markets in the three Senatorial District of the State.

The Commissioner said the project would not only boost businesses, it would allow for easy transportation of goods from the farms to the market as well as create the friendly and comfortable environment in doing business for farmers and traders residing in the rural areas and some semi urban towns.

The Rural Development Commissioner pointed out that the roads will provide a new lease of life to the rural communities as well as boost their economic fortunes amongst other notable impacts, stressed that the roads within the markets will be constructed up to the urban cities.

Hon. Daniel described Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Passion about grassroots development as second to none, expressed optimism that he would continue to place premium on the Rural Development using the RAAMP in Kogi State.
