Ayade inaugurates anti-tax agency to grant exemption to low income earners

As part of measures to put an end to the unnecessary taxation of low income earners, the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, has inaugurated an anti-tax agency to correct the anomalies.

During the inauguration, Ayade expressed his heartfelt concern for the people of the state who feed from hand to mouth but are still taxed for the produce they sell.

He said his government is not one that will premise its strength on making poor residents live in further discomfort but will find a way to ease their worries.

The members of the agency comprise clergymen in the state, as the Governor said he has put them there strategically because he expects them to be just and truthful in disposition.

Members of the Agency include; Bishop Emma Isong who is the chairman. Rev.Fr Julius Ada is the Secretary. Others are Pastor John Ekpenyong and Rev. Sister Patricia Olom

The governor bemoaned the activities of illegal tax consultants who he said come up with unnecessary taxes on the poor and vulnerable in the state. He urged members of the Agency to  swing into action immediately.

“I charge you that this responsibility comes with it’s own troubles, you have a choice to do that which is good and the selection of this team is based on your history, it’s based on your profile, the understanding of your closeness to God and that you will do that which is fair to all manners of people equally and fairly.
