Auto crash claims journalist, four others in Osun

A fatal auto crash which occurred at Asejire end of Osun State on Friday has claimed lives of five persons while others sustained severe injuries.
Among the persons that lost their lives in the auto crash was an ace broadcast journalist, Nathaniel Abimbola, working with the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) in Osogbo.
Abimbola was attached to the state assembly and had been on the beat for several years. Other persons that died in the accident are members of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Ayetoro Osogbo.
It was gathered that the entire occupants of the I’ll fated 18seater bus were members of CCC who were heading Imeko headquarters of the church for retreat.
The driver of the bus was said to have lost his brake and as a result could not control the bus again before ramming into a stationary Nigerian Bottling Company Coca-Cola truck during which five persons lost their lives.
Those that sustained injuries in the accident are currently receiving treatment at state hospital Ibadan and Ikire.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Osun Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has expressed grief over the death of the correspondent of the Osun State Broadcasting Service at the House of Assembly Mr. Nathaniel Abimbola.
Governor Aregbesola, in a condolence message signed by the Director Bureau of Communication and Strategy Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said the death of Abimbola was sudden just as it has robbed the state-owned media organization one of its most dependable hands.
“This is sudden and tragic. He has shown himself as a reliable hand in the business of dissemination of information. “His life was short but was eventful. He has demonstrated capacity for professional excellence but he has come to the end of his journey. “We console ourselves with the reality that death is a necessary end that must come when it is our time.”
The statement urged the entire OSBC family to take this sad loss with equanimity. The state council of NUJ has declared a seven day mourning period in respect of the death ofbb Nathaniel Abimbola.
This was contained in a statement released by leadership of the Union while commiserating with friends, family and colleagues of the deceased.
The statement signed by the chairman of NUJ Abiodun Olalere described late Nathaniel as a man loved by all through his penchant for peace and hardworking nature.
The Union therefore declares a seven day mourning period and suspension of union activities at state secretariat and all chapel formations for seven days in utmost respect to the departed soul.
