Auditor-General urged to publish quality reports for good governance

Auditor General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine, has been urged to put emphasis on publishing quality reports that would add value to governance, promote accountability and transparency in the conduct of government business.

The Director of Audit, Defence and Security Agencies Department Mrs. Florence Nwaodike Anyanwu, gave the advice in Abuja during the valedictory session organized for her by management staff of the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation.

The Deputy Director, Media and Public Relations, Mrs Ogunmosunle Olawunmi in a statement said, Mrs. Florence Anyanwu formally retired from service on 4th May, 2017 at the age of 60years after 33 years in active service to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Mrs. Anyanwu started work in the Office of the Auditor – General for the Federation in February, 1984 as Auditor 1 and rose to the post of Director Audit in 2011.

She was the Acting Auditor – General for the Federation from 5th June 2016 to 5th December, 2016

Encomiums were showered on her by the management staff of the Office of the Auditor – General for the Federation during the valedictory session organized for her by management.

According to the statement, the management staff extolled Mrs. Anyanwu’s passion and dedication to work; including her tireless efforts towards the advancement of the Audit Institution.

“Her virtues of hard work, thoroughness and compassionate nature were also mentioned. Good wishes and prayers of excellent health, long life and happiness in retirement were also offered,” the statement added.

In her response, Mrs. Anyanwu, said she was overwhelmed by the display of love, affection, respect and words of well wishes, saying, “it has been a fantastic honour and opportunity for her to work in the Office of the Auditor – General for the Federation.”

She appealed to her colleagues to eschew actions that are capable of bringing the Office to public ridicule and disrepute.

Mrs. Anyanwu also implored them to always engage one another constructively with open minds
