Attempt on Melaye’s life stage-managed, fiction – Kogi ALGON chair

The Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Council of Kogi State who doubles as Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Taofiq Isa, has denied his alleged involvement in an attempt to assassinate Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West senatorial district.
Hon. Isa, who was reacting to Senator Melaye’s allegation that there was an attempt to assassinate him, said the Senator told a lie as he (Melaye) was the one that invaded his own village, Ayetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Council, with scores of policemen who shot sporadically, instilling fear into the entire community.
The local council boss described Senator Melaye’s claim as stage-managed and a fiction aimed at intimidating his electorate who may likely come to seek favour from him.
In a statement by the media consultant to ALGON chairman, Abubakar Suleman, Melaye’s invasion forces led by scores of police men including a gang of thugs induced apprehension and fear in the locals in his community as an atmosphere of War Theater enveloped Ayetoro Gbede.
“There was nothing like attack or attempt on Melaye’s life, the villagers were gripped with fears that terrorists or herdsmen have eventually visited them only to find out that it was their own son, Dino Melaye, that arrived, “the council chairman explained.
The council boss said traditional rulers and residents of Ayetoro Gbede and other adjoining settlements were scared as shooting commenced from far and near, thinking that the dreaded Boko Haram or the other terrorists and Fulani have invaded them.
The council chairman, who hails from the same community with Melaye, attributed the gangster entry of the village by the senator as an act of face-saving as he is no longer relevant to the electorate and fearing that he could be attacked by his own people due to his unpopular approaches to both national and state issues.
