ATSSSAN unveils new secretariat.

The administrative secretariat of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria ATSSSAN has been commissioned in Lagos.

The edifice with three sections will was unveiled by the managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN.

Speaking shortly before the commissioning, the National president of ATSSSAN, Comrade Benjamin Okewu said the union decided to embark on the project after all efforts to get an approval for the expansion of the land for the building of a new secretariat failed.

According to Okewu the union ‘came out of the box’ and decided to put up the structure in order to give ATSSSAN a befitting secretariat.

While commending the workers for steadfastness and discipline towards the struggle for welfare in the past seven years, Okewu appreciated the contributions of various agencies towards the realization of the completion of the edifice.

Also speaking, the sole administrator of the project Comrade Ahmed Danjuma said it took about two months to get the National secretariat put in place stressing that it was not in the the interest of the union not to have a befitting office.

Danjuma, who is also the branch chairman of ATSSSAN FAAN, used the occasion to call on all debtor airlines and other concessionaires to settle their debts to avoid the wrath of workers.

He noted that the industry was passing through a lot of challenges especially that of regulation and taxes but expressed optimism that the situation will get better if the government will implement all the proposals sent by the union as measures to revive the industry.

According to Danjuma, the secretariat which has three sections, conference, administrative and technical will also have the business section to raise revenue for the union.
