ATMA frowns at indiscriminate parking

The management of Anambra Traffic Management Agency (ATMA) has reacted vehemently over indiscriminate parking of vehicles along Zik’s avenue, highways and other major roads in Anambra state.

The State Commandant of the agency, Mr. Chidi Anthony Umezinwa who gave this warning said the agency would not relent in apprehending offenders as they would face the heavy wrath of law.
ATMA boss stated this in an exclusive interview with Daily Times at his office in Awka.
Mr. Umezinwa noted that the agency had mapped out several parks in the state where commuters and individuals would judiciously park their vehicles for safety so as to maintain free flow of traffic.
“The state government and some private individuals have created parks in some areas such as the park along Aroma – Secretariat axis where it is written ” park and pay”. We encourage people to park there, but you still see people parking along that road”.
Mr. Umezinwa who attributed the success to the support of Governor Obiano to the agency, stressed that the agency had been working tremendously to maintain free flow of traffic, adding that the governor had since assumption of office empowered many youth, training and retraining of ATMA officers and many more.
The ATMA boss however pleaded with the state government to provide more operational vehicles and other logistics that would be distributed in different zones to enable them executive their duties effectively.
